Sharing
Fruits of Contemplation -
"Poems of Stone and Bread"
Dominicans
have been called to share their fruits of contemplation since St. Dominic
founded the Order of Preachers in 1216, said Armando P. Ibáñez,
a Dominican priest, poet and filmmaker.
His first poetry CD, "Poems of Stone and Bread," which was
released on Feb. 1, is receiving excellent reviews.
Noted
harpist, Patrice Fisher of New Orleans, accompanies Ibáñez in
his reading of new poems and from selections from two of his books of
poetry: Midday Shadows and Wrestling with the Angel - a Collection of
poetry.
Miguel Lopez, a professor at SMU, said Poems of Stone and Bread is an
excellent collection of poetry and music. "Music and spoken word
blend together so well and so simply without getting in each other's
way, as do the blending of English and Spanish in several of the poems,"
Lopez said, in reference to some poems written in an interchangeable
style of English and Spanish.
"There are some tasteful and tasty morsels that take one to an
eternal, timeless space of music and poetry where he/she cannot fail
to find hope and peace."
