SPROUTING LIFE AMID THE ASHES
By Armando P. Ibáñez

From the ashes of a burnt forest
Seedlings emerge
Green amid suffocating ashes
Life.
A slight breeze stirs the
Curtains of light
A new stage is set.
Shadows recede beneath our
Walking feet
We lay them to rest.

The tree lets go of its
Shredded limb
And sprouts new leaves
In its stead.
Seedlings breathe
And stretch their hands to the
Heavens.
Light and wind dance
In an embrace.
They kiss and bless
The earth with a gentle rain.
